Releasing Marcellus
I love the folks over Bellingham's Marine Life Center. Casey Cook, Ciara Howard, the rest of staff are amazing. A team deeply passionate for our critters in the Salish Sea, ecology, diving, and the education of the underwater biodiversity that defines our region. Like I've wrote about before, every so often they receive a GPO, Giant Pacific Octopus, as part of the bycatch from our local fishers. This time, their new resident GPO came to them a little worse for wear.
Marcellus, was underweight and was injured, and took several weeks to recover and make weight. But in their care, he made a full recovery, more than doubled in size, and was released back into the Salish Sea thrive and breed.
Diving along with me on this cold and wet winter day, is my bearded saltwater scuba-brother John Garman, and on wrist #watchfam was the Doxa 300T Clive Cussler.
